Ruth E. Dufresne, aged 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at her home in Rochester, New Hampshire, surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband, William.
Born on April 6, 1954, in Rochester, Ruth was the beloved daughter of Julius Christiansen and Elizabeth Dufresne.
She was an active member of the Eastern Star, dedicating much of her time to community service and fostering strong bonds within the organization.
Ruth's passions were deeply rooted in her family and community.
She had a profound love for travel, recently celebrating her 70th birthday with a memorable cruise.
Her affection for nature was evident in her care for birds and squirrels, and she took great joy in decorating her home during the Christmas season, both inside and out.
Ruth was an avid collector of lighthouses and angel figurines, reflecting her appreciation for symbols of guidance and protection.
Evenings were often spent playing Scrabble with her mother, Elizabeth, and any family members who were present, creating cherished memories over the years.
In her younger years, Ruth enjoyed camping and fishing at Lone Jack with family friends Tom and Tootie Sylvester.
She also relished motorcycle trips with her first husband, Stuart, attending Americade Rallies across the East Coast.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband, William Dufresne of Rochester, NH; her mother, Elizabeth Dufresne of Manchester, NH; her son, Stuart R. Sennett II, and his wife, Jill A. Sennett of Milton, NH; her daughter, Jennifer E. Walton, and her husband, Larry Dewayne Walton of Newport News, VA; stepdaughters Gabrielle Dufresne of Limington, ME, and Danielle Dufresne of British Columbia, Canada; her sister, Rachel Hanna, and her husband, Kenny Hanna; her brother, Jay Christiansen, and his wife, Beady Christiansen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Julius Christiansen, and her first husband, Stuart R. Sennett.
Visiting hours for the Dufresne family will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a service immediately following in the Edgerly Funeral Home Chapel, located at 86 South Main Street, Rochester, NH 03867.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local charities in Ruth's memory, reflecting her lifelong commitment to community service and support.
