Rochester, NH, mourns the loss of a beloved community member |
Donna Marie (Mowl) Johns, aged 66, of Rochester, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a courageous health journey.
Born on July 29, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Donna was the daughter of the late Donald E. Mowl and Alice (Glahn) Mowl. Her early years were marked by a military upbringing that took her across the United States and to Thailand, experiences that instilled in her a deep love for nature and a resilient spirit.
In Rochester, Donna became a cherished member of the community. She managed local convenience stores, where her kind demeanor and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on many. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her family, as she became a mother figure to those in need of support and guidance.
Donna found joy in simple pleasures: playing video games with her sons, creating art, and spending time by the water, especially at her favorite spot, Fort Foster. She had a particular fondness for blue butterflies, viewing them as symbols of transformation and rebirth.
Above all, Donna cherished her role as a mother, passing on her strength and resilience to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dale Johns of Rochester, NH; her sons, Brandon Johns and Christopher Johns, both of Somersworth, NH; and her stepson, Paul Pratt and his wife Amber. She also leaves behind her brother, John Mowl and his wife Veronica; her grandchildren, Julian Morrin, Brody, Claire, and Aubrey; her aunts Linda Behymer and Nancy Bowling; and numerous dear friends and extended family members.
Services will be held privately at the family's convenience. To share a memory or leave an online condolence, please visit the funeral home's website.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to local nature conservation efforts, reflecting Donna's love for the outdoors. |
