Frederick 'Fred' C. Hussey, aged 68, of Rochester, NH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025, after a prolonged battle with cancer, with his devoted wife by his side.
Born on May 2, 1957, in Newburyport, MA, Fred was the son of the late Frederick Hussey Sr. of Newburyport, MA, and Jacquelin (Field) Brideau of Seabrook, NH.
He was also predeceased by his brother, Timothy Hussey of Somersworth, NH.
Fred's early education began at the Kelly School in Newburyport.
His family later relocated to Maine, where he attended the Noble School system, and subsequently moved to Hawaii, where he completed his high school education.
Following high school, Fred honorably served in the United States Army, completing his military service in Hawaii before settling in New Hampshire.
He dedicated many years as a landscaper at the University of New Hampshire, contributing significantly to the campus's natural beauty.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Melinda (Perkins) of Rochester; his son, Kyle Hussey, and wife Dorothy of Rochester; and three step-sons: Justin Perkins and partner Megan of Florida, Trevor Perkins and wife Michelle of Rochester, and Devin Perkins and wife Sonja of Dover.
He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Cullen of Rochester; three granddaughters: Rebecca, Teaghan, and Paige; one grandson, Kyle Jr.; a nephew, Josh, whom Fred regarded as another son; and a great-nephew, Jaxson.
Fred cherished time spent with his family and numerous friends, whom he considered his extended family.
He found joy in his garage, working with wood, listening to classic rock and roll, and hosting gatherings.
Known as the life of the party, his vibrant personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation hours are scheduled for Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4 PM to 6 PM at Edgerly's Funeral Home in Rochester, NH.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Fred's memory.
